Get your chain

Three ways a project qualifies for its own L2: be popular, pay for it, or win the community vote.

Get your chain

A project qualifies for a chain in one of three ways. They lead to the same result, so pick the one that fits where your project is today.

Projects with a large, active holder base qualify on their own numbers. Nothing to apply for and nothing to pay: if the demand is obviously there, the chain gets built.

2. Pay for the service

If you want a chain now and do not want to wait for a vote, you can pay for it. This buys the same chain, bridge and validator set as the other two paths. It buys speed, not privileges.

3. Win the community vote

Anyone can submit a project on the voting site. Holders vote for the projects they want to see get a chain, and the projects at the top of the leaderboard qualify.

  • Every wallet gets one free vote per day.
  • Votes are signed by the wallet, so a vote cannot be cast on someone else's behalf.
  • The leaderboard updates live as votes come in.

Submit a project at voting.l2protocol.com. How the vote works covers the election in full, and Submit your project walks through the entry form.

After qualifying

Once a project qualifies, the chain is deployed with its own chain id, RPC endpoint and explorer, and it is added to the network list every L2 Protocol site reads. From that moment the chain is public: anyone can connect a wallet, stake, vote and read the burn.
